The markets and artisans of the Lot: expertise to discover

In addition to its historical heritage, the Lot also reveals itself through its markets and art workshops.
Under the covered market halls of Cahors or in the shade of the narrow streets of Figeac, take a stroll through the colorful stalls to discover everything that Quercy has to offer.
Then, step into the workshops to take home a unique souvenir.

Lot markets: a taste of the terroir

Unmissable markets to visit for fresh, local produce

Cahors, the emblematic market

Near Saint-Étienne Cathedral, the Cahors market is the oldest in the region. It offers many exceptional products in a warm atmosphere.
Here, producers and farmers passionately share Quercy specialties such as foie gras, Rocamadour AOP cheese, farm-raised lamb, duck breast, Périgord walnuts, honey, and, of course, Cahors wines. Take the opportunity to create a picnic to share on the banks of the Lot.

🕐Opening hours: every Wednesday and Saturday morning.

The covered market under the covered market is held daily.

Figeac, one of the most beautiful markets in the Lot

In the heart of the historic center, the Figeac market cultivates a taste for fine produce and authentic encounters.
Depending on the season, producers showcase truffles and saffron, emblematic treasures of the region. Some even offer tastings on site.

🕐Opening hours: Saturday mornings

Other markets worth a visit include those in Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, Souillac, Prayssac, and Martel.
Finally, if you love truffles, don't miss the Lalbenque truffle market (the largest in the Lot) on Tuesday afternoons from December to March, or the Limognes-en-Quercy truffle market on Friday mornings.

Meet the Lot's artisans

Of course, the Lot isn't just about its gastronomy.
It's also the cradle of craftsmanship, preserved and promoted by enthusiasts.
Ceramicists, potters, leatherworkers, jewelers, and upholsterers open their workshops to share their expertise.
This is particularly the case in Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, listed among the most beautiful villages in France. Watch the artists at work and take the opportunity to bring back some original souvenirs.
